How Mindsets, Academic Performance, and Gender Predict Finnish Students’ Educational Aspirations

This study examined Finnish eighth graders’ (N = 1136) educational aspirations and how those can be predicted by mindsets, academic achievement, gender. Multinomial logistic regression analyses were conducted to investigate two mindset constructs (intelligence giftedness), domain-specific performance (mathematics reading), gender relate students’ on three levels (academic, vocational, unknown). The growth about giftedness was found predict unknown aspirations, whereas the intelligence did not aspirations. High in math but reading Gender-related differences found, as boys seem have vocational effect penetrate all schools. Lastly, differed between schools: from some schools, students are more likely apply university, while other education. Overall, demonstrated that a does directly relationship implicit beliefs outcomes might complex than suggested.
